Machine Sewing | Quilting Basics
In this beginner-friendly two part Quilting Basics Class, you'll learn essential techniques, including fabric selection, cutting, piecing, and basic quilting stitches. With hands-on guidance from our experienced instructor, you’ll complete a small quilt project that you can proudly take home. Whether you're a complete novice or looking to refresh your skills, this class is perfect for anyone eager to explore the world of quilting!
Please note that the completion of the quilted project of choice can extend beyond the two part class duration.
Our studio sews with Brother® computerized sewing machines. You’re welcome to use one of our studio machines or you can even bring your own functioning personal machine to get better acquainted with it.
Class 1 Details:
You’ll learn essential skills to start your quilting journey. You'll discover how to choose the right fabrics and colors for your quilt, along with cutting techniques using rotary cutters and rulers for precise measurements. The class will guide you in piecing fabric together to create a quilt block, which you'll then assemble into a pillow cover or zipper pouch. By the end of the class, you'll have a solid foundation to continue your quilting adventures!
Class 2 Details:
Practicing the skills you learned during Class 1, we will help you create a quilted pillow front or simple quilted zipper pouch. If you have another idea, please let us know.
Please note if you select a more complicated quilting style it's possible the project will extend beyond the class duration.

Previous sewing machine experience and knowledge is required or students must take our Machine Sewing Basics class.
You're welcome to use any of our scrap fabrics or students must bring their own cotton fabric to start their project.
